Kindergarten Unit 1: Mona and Louise

Introductory unit with a focus on behavior management via art history and how to care for the art room, and use the supplies for Drawing, Sculpting, and Painting.

First Grade Unit: Dreams and Faith

1st grade unit with the theme "How are Artists inspired by Dreams" Students Analyze and interpret dreamy artwork, learn about Architecture, Surrealism, and Photography to create an individual Ringgold inspired Story Quilt collage drawing and a collaborative dream city.

Fourth Grade Unit: Stop Motion Perseverance

3rd grade unit with the Big Idea of Perseverance. Students analyze stop motion videos and experiment in creating their own using Claymation, Legos, Whiteboard, Manakins and more. Students work collaboratively to tell a story of Perseverance through the medium of Stop Motion Animation.

7-8 Grade: Monograms and Personal Identity

This lesson will look at the way we sign our names. Names are usually held as a key part of our identity. We will look at how the meaning and significance changes though different cultures and media, such as; Signatures of famous people, Artist signatures, Family Crests, Graffiti tags, etc. This lesson will also introduce the Monogram Stamp Project and we will work on thumbnails of ideas for our own stamps.
